Worry? Anxiety? Desperation? Resignation? So if I’m not in control and God allows bad things in my life, what should be my response? Sometimes it’s a result of the broken, fallen nature of the universe (like disease or so-called natural disaster). Sometimes it’s a result of other’s bad choices (like a DUI accident that takes a life). Sometimes it’s a consequence of our bad choices (like my teeth being bad because I neglected dental help for so long). Doesn’t it mean that God causes the pain? NO! God is good and will never cause pain. It means that whatever happens, even the bad and painful stuff, God is allowing. The Bible tells us that God is in control.ĭoes that mean we will always get what we want our that we will never have pain? No. Is it the pain I was sure I would feel? No.īut that’s exactly the point. So why did I fear? Is it lack of confidence in the dentist? No. Now I know that millions of people every year undergo anesthesia… but not me. The dentist ended up pulling 2 molars and 2 wisdom teeth.

Yesterday morning I went to the dentist to have a couple teeth pulled while I was under. Ok, so ice skating down a 6% grade with an eighty thousand pound truck doesn’t scare me, but the thought of going under anesthesia terrifies me. We will be judged based solely on one thing: Did we accept His forgiveness through Jesus and begin living life as His child? | Leave a comment It says that each of us deserves eternal condemnation, because every single one of us is a rebel against God.īut God loves us so much that even in our rebellion He made a way for us to be forgiven and brought back into a right relationship with Himself. The Bible says that based on ourselves, we are all infinitely guilty. Not in how we lived or what we did or did not do. The Bible says that when we die we will stand before God and be judged, either rewarded or condemned, for our choices. We may go peacefully in our sleep one night. We may go slowly and painfully through a terrible disease. One thing is absolutely certain we will all, each one of us, be there one day. The next he’s facing the consequences of all of his life’s choices. One minute they’re riding and having fun in the warm afternoon sun.

It was the second death scene I’ve seen this week. My guess is that he passed from this world. He wasn’t moving and the responders were very still around him. She was hurt and screaming while responders tried to help her. It won’t be easy sometimes, but it’s always worth it.A motorcycle rider and passenger down on the freeway. We need each other to encourage one another to keep on truckin’ forward through faith and perseverance to what God has in store for us. When we became a follower of Jesus, the adventure didn’t stop there rather, it was the beginning of a journey of growing in our faith and increasing our trust and hope in Jesus Christ. Let’s remember to gather with other believers in community groups and to read our Bible daily to remind ourselves of those followers of God who went before us and pressed on to the goal that God has for us. When we fail to keep pressing on, discouragement often makes us sluggish (or lazy). We need to imitate those who have already inherited (notice it’s not the word, “ earned”) God’s promises. Press on with that hope until the very end. Followers of Jesus need to keep pressing forward. The writer of Hebrews is encouraging us like a good coach (or sports fan) to keep on going and to keep on “truckin’” to the goal that God has called each of us to attain. Instead of getting into a theological discussion of whether these people were actually Christians or even God’s elect, I am going to focus on verses 11 and 12 to give us a boost of encouragement of how we should be living our lives on earth. This passage has been one of the most heated debates in all of New Testament texts. In today’s passage in Hebrews 6, the topic of falling away from one’s faith is discussed. The cheerleaders would yell something and all of us fans would respond by yelling, “Keep on Truckin’ that away.” We’d shout this while jumping and pushing the people next to us in the direction of where the offense was attempting to score a touchdown (people whose love language was physical touch really enjoyed this cheer). I remember home games and participating with other students in a cheer whenever our team was on offense. It’s football season and I’m reminded of my college days looking forward to watching our football team compete each Saturday during the Fall season.
#Keep on truckin jesus full
“Now we desire each of you to demonstrate the same diligence for the full assurance of your hope until the end, so that you won’t become lazy but will be imitators of those who inherit the promises through faith and perseverance.” (Hebrews 6:11-12)
